8 Jul – Since Malaysian cinemas were allowed to resume operations as of 1 July with strict adherence to the government-approved Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), producers have begun planning their movies' release dates.

Even though there are a few producers who have opted to release their movies on digital platforms and satellite TV, production company Kuman Pictures has decided to still release its upcoming movie in cinemas.

Kuman Pictures announced on Twitter that its horror movie "Roh" already has a new release date confirmed, which is this 6 August.

Previously scheduled to open in cinemas last 19 March, "Roh's" release had to be postponed as the COVID-19 situation worsened and the Movement Control Order (MCO) was enforced by the local government.

"Roh" marks the first Malaysian title, and currently the only local film, to be screened in cinemas soon alongside Hollywood blockbusters like "Tenet" and "Mulan".

The feature directorial debut by Emir Ezwan is made up of a cast of only six: Farah Ahmad, Mhia Farhana, Harith Haziq, Namron and wife Junainah M. Lojong, as well as Putri Syahadah Nurqaseh.

Prior to opening in local cinemas, "Roh" made its world premiere at the Singapore International Film Festival and was also screened at the Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival last year. It was also announced last month that it had been selected for the 22nd Udine Far East Film Festival.
