Watch this if you liked: "Kal Ho Naa Ho", "Hum Tum", "Salaam Namaste"

For starters, I absolutely love this movie. It is a treat in every aspect. The humour is outrageously funny, the sentiment is absolutely heart-wrenching and the race track atmosphere is awesome! Director Siddharth Anand has made a lovely comeback after "Salaam Namaste" which was also worth getting excited over.

Rajveer Singh (Saif Ali Khan) is a pit crew member of a racing team. He has the passion for racing but changing tyres is as close as he can get to the race track until he meets Harry (Jaaved Jaaferi). Harry is a cab driver cum team manager of an unpopular racing team known as the 'Speeding Saddles'. He transforms Rajveer into RV, the car-racing champion.

On the same day that RV meets Harry, he also meets music student Radhika Sekhar (Rani Mukerji). Soon, his career is flourishing and so is his relationship with Radhika whom he fondly calls Shona. They get married and RV becomes a proud father of two bright children, Princess and Champ. Everything seems perfect in RV's world - he is the number one car racer in the US, he has a beautiful and supportive wife along with two lovely children, he is the proud owner of a mansion, a luxurious car... it all goes well until he meets a ghastly racing accident.

The result: RV is hospitalised for months and when he returns to the track, he is unable to find the courage to race like he used to. Images of the accident linger in his mind, causing him to lose concentration and his career crumbles around him. To make matters worse, he lands in financial difficulties that cause him to part with his car, his house and even Shona's wedding ring! The family moves into a smaller house but this proves difficult as they are not used to it.

Not wanting to disappoint the children, RV and Shona create a story that the family is participating in a reality show where they have to pretend to be poor. Struggling with their new lifestyle, they use fantasy to get them through. However, when Champ falls critically ill, RV is forced to return to the life that he once had. Will he be able to save his loved ones from misery and strife? Does he have what it takes to look beyond his fear and revive his career again?

The cast are tailor-made for the film. Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji, teaming up again after "Hum Tum", show superb chemistry and Rani shines in her role as a mother and supportive wife. Saif, who has always been portrayed as maintaining his cool, has shown his softer side this time around. Jaaved Jaaferi portrays the right emotions for his scenes and the kids are simply adorable! Worth a special mention is Angelina Idnani who captivates everyone with her cynical look.

The songs, written by Vishal and Sekhar, are not all that great but 'Ta Ra Rum Pum' in the Disney store with the four bears is world-class animation. It feels very much like a Disney film! The other catchy tune was 'Ab To Forever' which is very easy to groove to. A plus point with the other songs is that the story-line moved along with it so one is actually watching the story develop as the song plays in the background. What a neat way to save time and prevent the viewers from getting distracted.

The film was shot mostly in New York City. Cinematography by Vaibhavi Merchant is good with breath-taking scenes of Brooklyn Bridge and Times Square. The costume design and visual effects are worthy of praise too.

This film makes you feel good, and you will laugh and cry along with it. It is indeed worthwhile as it offers hope in the midst of struggle. Watch it and you will come out humming 'Ta Ra Rum Pum'!
